Ian's New York

Look closely. It's Curry in a hurry!!

I still need tickets!!!

I would like to go to Madison Square Garden sometime this century. If you have the connections I am seeking to acquire tickets for the Knicks or Rangers, feel free to email me right now. Go NY Go NY Go!!

New York New York, it's a helluva town. Too bad that when I got home from Year Course, I came to the realization that I did not know the city well. All I knew about was how to take the 4 train from Grand Central to Yankee Stadium. That's it. Heck, I knew Jerusalem better than New York City. I had no knowledge on how to manuver myself through the biggest city in the world. This is why now, slowly but surely, I am teaching myself the Island of Manhattan. Special thanks to Chris Lo Parco, and Jon Prosnit, as well as my dad, who have helped me on the road to understanding the total essence of New York.

This is Ruff Nutz, as viewed when sitting on the floor of a Metro North train. (me, not him)

It must have been some time in late August when I decided to meet up with Jon Prosnit one day in the city. I hadn't seen him since the end of Year Course, over two months earlier. Therefore, I went. Thank G-D that Jon used to live in the city and showed me around. To my astonishment, there were places I only dreamed that existed. (No, not anything that is the basis of the current Broadway musical, The Life, but things that are definatley worthwhile.) One of these things, as you will see below is a magical place called...........

Gray's Papaya!!

Yes, I know this is a shameless plug, but this place (and a similarly named Mike's Papaya) are definatley worth it. They have these really good ALL BEEF (I'll call them to check on the kashruit) HOT DOGS. They are so good, and the best part about it is that they only cost 50 CENTS EACH. That's right, only 50 cents a dog, tax included. You give them 2 quarters, or something equivlent to it, and you get an amazing hot dog. Enough about the dogs. They also have some really good fruit juices, like papaya, mango, pina colada, orange, and others which I cannot think of at this moment. It's definatley a place to check out. This is what New York City's all about.
(Note: they were 50 cents at the time I originally wrote this, but they have since been raised to 75 cents each)

The above picture is from the day when me, Chris, and Rob tried to get onto MTV Live. We were standing in Times Square and I was making signs (actually, I was making signs). Too bad we were too far from the studio window for them to read our signs. The pointed us out to come closer and show them what I wrote (probably some Naava-esque thing like "I Am MTV" or something) They smiled. Then I made a sign saying "Let Us In". However, the MTV guy made a gesture requiring that we pay the money to get in. Too bad, we went home. Perhaps one day we will be rich enough to own the MTV building in Times Square. I guess we'll have to see.

This is the end of the story for now. Stay tuned for further chapters as I attempt to become one with Manhattan. Look out for my future report of the day I spent with Rachel Mason, actually guiding her through the city, and I hope to have photos of me and other stuff in the weeks to come. (Three years later, I never took the photos, I think) It's all that simple. Now all I need is the Knicks tickets!!!!

OK, back to the archive.

Alright, back to my homepage.
